Michael is an Associate in Walker Morris’ Pensions team. Michael advises trustees and employers on a wide range of pension matters involving both defined contribution and defined benefit schemes. His clients are both national and international, with scheme assets ranging from £10m up to £1.5bn, advising them in merger and acquisition transactions and in relation to various pensions issues. Michael’s recent work includes advising trustees on general pensions matters, the provision of life assurance benefits, dealing with individual and bulk transfers and providing digital communications to pension scheme members.
Michael describes his approach to his work as “Commercial, professional and efficient.” He believes in offering practical, readable advice to his clients and taking time to understand his client’s needs. Michael enjoys the wide variety of technical work that pensions exposes him to and that each day is different.
He discovered his passion of commercial and trust based law when achieving a first class law degree at the University of Liverpool and ultimately chose to qualify into pensions after developing a keen interested for the area during his training. Since joining Walker Morris, Michael is now part of the firms mentoring scheme, the Leeds Junior Lawyers Division and the Association of Pensions Lawyers. Michael has also spoken and presented at various seminars and training events at Walker Morris.
