Josh is an Associate in our Real Estate Team. Josh provides advice to clients across a wide range of property-based disputes. His work covers all aspects of contentious property work, including dilapidations claims, boundary/adverse possession disputes, lease renewals, commercial forfeiture, rent arrears, as well as advising on restrictive covenants and easements.

Josh’s clients include commercial landlords and tenants, developers and title indemnity insurers.

Being able to provide clients with commercial solutions that suit their business as well as their legal needs is something Josh finds very rewarding.  He also enjoys being able to provide clients with reassurance; seeking to relieve the pressure of litigation.

When it comes to client work, Josh starts by taking a step back to view the bigger picture. He says, “litigation can be heated and it’s easy to have a knee-jerk reaction, but exploring other approaches and dispute resolution can result in a better outcome for the client”.

Josh is good at condensing large amounts of information into something more concise and he knows that his clients want straightforward answers, not convoluted ‘lawyer speak’.

Deals

  • Acted for both landlords and tenants on commercial lease renewals.
  • Advised a landlord on commercial forfeiture for non-payment of rent following the easing of covid restrictions on forfeiture.
  • Currently assisting in bringing a dilapidations claim worth over £2.5m.
  • Acted for multiple landlords in recovering rent arrears.
  • Acted for multiple landlords and tenants in drafting and serving notices under their commercial lease (break notices, s146 notices, ’54 Act notices etc.)
