Nick is a partner in our Commercial Dispute Resolution Team. Nick’s work covers complex litigation, arbitration and mediation. He is also known for his expertise working with clients on issues involving contractual interpretation, risk avoidance, contract management and renegotiation and termination of contractual relationships.
Nick typically works with corporates on high value complex litigations. This includes UK based companies as well as large overseas organisations.
When asked what he finds most rewarding about his role he says, “we encounter a lot of different businesses and people, working for different clients on different types of disputes. The variety of challenges and experiences is the best thing about it. There is rarely a dull moment”.
Nick’s approach to client work is very much about distilling the complexity of legal disputes to present clients with easily digestible and results oriented advice, options and recommendations.
“My motivation comes from achieving results with clients. We see a broad range of disputes and work with clients in different sectors and areas of business and each case brings its own unique set of challenges”.
It’s this broad exposure to the world of business and the different legal challenges businesses can encounter that Nick considers to be a defining factor of life as a disputes lawyer – “it’s fulfilling to work with our clients in helping them to achieve positive outcomes and closure on issues which can be a distraction for them from their day-to-day business activities”.
Nick’s broad experience of leading teams in complex dispute work means he is both concise and robust of character. He credits his success, in part, to his ability to identify and focus on the key issues that will make a material difference in achieving a resolution in a dispute.
Finding innovative and cost-effective solutions for the resolution of disputes is never easy – particularly with the very wide range of complex legal problems he encounters, but he is keen to point out that there is a strong entrepreneurial and collaborative culture at Walker Morris, where “we measure ourselves by the contribution we make, working together and delivering value and excellence for our clients”.
