Walker Morris has advised Magnesium Capital on its investment in TMA Group Holdings Limited (TMA), a leading provider of metering, data, smart infrastructure and energy services to the GB energy market.
Founded in 1987, TMA provides trusted metering and energy data services across more than 8.5 million electricity meter points, supporting many of the UK’s leading energy suppliers, third-party intermediaries and corporate customers.
The investment will support TMA’s continued growth as the GB electricity market transitions to Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS), a significant industry reform that enables settlement of electricity usage based on half-hourly meter data. TMA is expected to play a key role in supporting market participants through this transition.
Magnesium Capital is a specialist investor focused on accelerating the energy transition through investments in businesses that support the decarbonisation, digitisation and modernisation of energy systems. The transaction sees Magnesium acquire a majority stake in TMA, partnering with founder Tim Meyer and the management team to support the business’s next phase of growth.
Corporate Partner Debbie Jackson led the Walker Morris team on the transaction, with multidisciplinary support from Paul Feenan (Director, Corporate), Nicola Parkinson (Partner, Tax), Charlotte Anderson (Director, Tax), Phil Scott (Partner, Banking & Finance) and Georgia Cowen (Senior Associate, Employment).
Walker Morris advised Magnesium Capital on all legal aspects of the transaction.
