Zara is an Associate in our Banking & Finance Team, advising banks and corporate borrowers on all aspects of corporate banking and acquisition finance.
Zara Shafiq focuses on bilateral and syndicated transactions, including acquisition finance, property finance and development finance.
A typical client for Zara would be corporate borrowers from organisations of various sizes, and sectors including education. Zara finds it rewarding when she meets deadlines and closes deals. Zara particularly enjoys helping distressed businesses to access funding.
Hardworking and organised, Zara describes her approach to client work as “always commercial” and, she says, “I like to think outside the box and find solutions using a pragmatic approach. Having a clear understanding of the client’s business is the key to keeping the transaction on track for completion. This role can be very technical, so we work as a team to make sure the hard questions are dealt with as soon as possible”.
