Our Commercial Dispute Resolution team, together with our expert sport lawyers, have experience handling all manner of sports-related disputes, including:
- Disputes between clubs, such as breach of contract claims in respect of payments under transfer and loan agreements;
- Disputes between clubs and their employees, including between clubs and their players, head coaches and coaching staff, under sports arbitration systems and in the courts.
- Representing clubs and athletes before regulatory/disciplinary commissions of their leagues and national governing bodies.
Our recent experience
- Acting for a club in the Premier League Managers’ Arbitration Tribunal.
- Acting for a club in a Player Related Dispute Commission regarding the termination of a player contract for cause.
- Challenging the jurisdiction of the civil courts to hear a dispute between a club and its coaching staff, where Rule K was the relevant forum.
