Walker Morris’ Sports Team have advised Australian businessman, Clint Goodchild, on the acquisition of Rugby League Championship side York City Knights.
This marks a new era for the Knights after the previous owner’s 5 years at the helm, and comes on the back of their recent success and move to the LNER Community Stadium last year. Mr Goodchild has a background in business turnaround and has worked in numerous industries, including marketing, events, hospitality, and sports management, and his hope is to continue to build the connection between the club and its community.
David Hinchliffe, Christian Slinger, Jake Phillips (Sport), Jeremy Moore, Hannah Levy and Frances Scarisbrick (Real Estate) advised on the acquisition which involved a purchase of 100% of the shares in the club.
Commenting on the deal Mr Goodchild said:
