Walker Morris partners with Out Together

Leading law firm, Walker Morris, has announced its new partnership with LGBTQ+ charity, Out Together, to give back to the community within Yorkshire.

Partners in Pride is facilitated by Horizon, Walker Morris’ LGBTQ+ Committee, which aims to increase the visibility of LGBTQ+ people, their history, lives and experience, and to raise awareness of issues affecting the community. The group got its name because everyone sees a different rainbow and everyone’s arc changes based on where on the horizon they are standing. The team want to recognise that everyone’s experience and view is unique, encouraging empathy and kindness to all.

Out Together unites LGBTQ+ generations across Yorkshire and is particularly committed to supporting older LGBTQ+ people. It works to create a diverse, vibrant and enduring community helping people to overcome the cultural and social barriers that can prevent everyone from celebrating old age with dignity.

As part of this partnership, Walker Morris and the Out Together team will join on Sunday 6 August 2023 to mark the 18th year of Leeds Pride, celebrating LGBTQ+ life in Yorkshire. The Partners in Pride will be hosting a pre-parade party for employees at the Walker Morris offices hosted by drag artist, Alita Vodka, before heading to Millenium Square where the parade starts before it makes its way down to Lower Briggate to continue the festivities. This event is the first of many to come as Walker Morris hope to be the host office for Out Together’s future events to continue support of the LGBTQ+ community in Leeds.

Tim Gittins, the chair of trustee board at Out Together, said:

“Out Together aims to build a strong, vibrant and enduring LGBT+ intergenerational inclusive community that supports its current and future older members. Bringing together people from different age groups who can share and learn from their life experiences helps people overcome the isolation and loneliness that can prevent them from being themselves and enjoying good mental and physical health.

“Out Together is delighted to be Partner in Pride with Walker Morris and looks forward to continuing our collaboration in the future.”

Reece Barker, chair of Horizon at Walker Morris, added:

“As part of Horizon’s 2023 objectives we are building relationships with charitable companies in the Yorkshire district, particularly those that support the LGBTQ+ community like Out Together. We recognise how important it is to ensure diversity and dignity for the older members of the LGBTQ+ community and we are proud to work with a charity that champions social inclusion in this way.

“We are thrilled to have Out Together on board and we are looking forward to being able to support them moving forwards as a new Partner in Pride.”
