Each year, over 150 children in Yorkshire are diagnosed with cancer. When a child is diagnosed, lives are turned upside down instantly: not just for the child but the entire family. Getting well again can be a long and challenging journey, emotionally, physically, and financially. Supporting children and families throughout that journey is why Candlelighters, was formed more than 45 years ago. Their mission is to bring light to every family affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire by providing emotional, practical and financial support, as well as bringing hope, by investing in vital research to improve the outcomes and lives of children with cancer. Candlelighters relies on the generosity of businesses and individuals to ensure its vital services are available for families.
Iain Blackwood Hobbs, Partnerships Executive at Candlelighters commented:
“Walker Morris have been an incredible Charity of the Year partner and we can’t thank the firm enough for everything that they have been involved in to support Candlelighters. Raising £19,020 through various fundraising activities, allows the charity to continue providing vital, practical, emotional and financial support to so many families in Yorkshire who are sadly affected by childhood cancer. Their donation and support will make an incredible difference to many families. We will look forward to working with Walker Morris again in the future.”
Charlotte Bontoft, Chair of the Walker Morris Charity Committee added:
“We’re thrilled that our efforts and hard work over the last 12 months have been so successful for Candlelighters. We’ve raised a record amount for the charity and we hope that this will help to support children and their families affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire.”
