Walker Morris supports leading international food business on second acquisition in a month

Specialist food & drink lawyers at Walker Morris have supported Valeo Foods on its acquisition of Freshers Foods Ltd, an experienced traditional pork scratching manufacturer based in Wigan that manufactures under its own brand, Openshaws, as well as co-manufacturing for the Snaffling Pig Co & Awfully Posh brands.

Following the acquisition, Freshers Foods will continue to operate as a separate trading entity.

The transaction is the latest in a string of acquisitions for Valeo Foods. Earlier this month the team advised on the acquisition New World Foods Europe and in December the team advised on the acquisition of IAG (It’s All Good).

Richard Naish, Head of the Food & Drink Team, led the Walker Morris Team with support from Kayleigh Watson (Corporate), Luke Riley (Tax), Rachel Turnbull and Christian Brundell (Regulatory & Compliance), Liz Graham (Pensions), Luke Jackson (Commercial), Alice Ruffell (Employment), Ricky Walker (Finance & Banking), Matt Lingard (IP), Hannah Levy (Real Estate).

Commenting on the deal Richard Naish said:

“This latest acquisition further reinforces Valeo’s strategy of creating a global food business with exceptional leading brands. Its great news for all the stakeholders involved and we’ve been delighted to work with the Valeo team again.

The deal underpins our ability to draw on a multi-disciplinary team of lawyers who have built up extensive knowledge working together on food and drink M&A.”
