Success for Homes England in planning appeal

Walker Morris’ Planning & Environment team have assisted Homes England in winning a planning appeal which has secured permission for up to 370 houses on a site at Whitehaven.
The site was initially proposed for development by the local council 44 years ago and has required Homes England, the governments housing accelerator, to become involved in recent years.
Despite Homes England purchasing the site to support the delivery of residential development and the site being partly allocated in the Council’s Local Development Plan, Homes England’s planning application was refused on 18 August 2022. Homes England pursued an appeal and permission was granted on 18 August 2023.
