Mike’s practice crosses multiple specialist fields including health, safety, and environmental, licensing, data protection, consumer and advertising, bribery and corruption, export controls, and economic sanctions. Mike’s contentious regulatory work includes defending a variety of regulatory prosecutions, including representation in court, at PACE interviews and other formal proceedings including inquests. In addition to advising on regulatory enforcement action and litigation, Mike provides compliance advice to companies both generally and in relation to corporate transactions, regularly working with the Walker Morris corporate team supporting their regulatory due diligence exercises. Mike advises on compliance and remediation as well as preparing transaction and policy documentation and has extensive experience of complex cross-border transactions. Mike also provides assistance to other lawyers of the firm in relation to standalone regulatory queries including in litigation, commercial and employment contexts.
Mike typically works with large national and international corporate clients from across all sectors with a particular focus on construction, transport and logistics, chemical, data and telecommunications, and security. Given the nature of the work, Mike is adept at providing agile and comprehensive assistance immediately following a serious incident, often providing strategic legal advice the same day.
