Walkers Transport acquires M.T.H Express Services

A team of specialist lawyers at Walker Morris has advised Walkers Transport, a Total Capital Partners-backed transport and third-party logistics specialist, on the acquisition of M.T.H Express Services Limited (MTH).

Based in the North of England with logistics centres in Leeds and Manchester, Walkers Transport is a leading UK transport and third-party logistics specialist providing bespoke transport solutions to leading manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers and distributors. In 2017, Total Capital Partners backed the £20m management buyout of Walkers Transport, led by CEO Richard Simpson.

The Walker Morris Team was led by John Hamer and Thomas Mieszkowski with assistance from Adrian Moss (Corporate), Joshua Waddington (Banking), Andrew Maclean (Real Estate), Lorna Hopps (Employment), Lee Crook (Commercial) and Alan Harper (Intellectual Property).

Richard Simpson, Chief Executive Officer of Walkers Transport said:

“I am delighted to welcome all the employees and customers of MTH to the Walkers Transport family. We are looking forward to working with Dez Shirley and the MTH management team to further grow the business and service offering as part of the enlarged Walkers Transport Group. We expect this acquisition to benefit both MTH’s staff and existing and future customers, as a result of being part of a larger group with greater reach across the Midlands, North of England and nationally. MTH has a great reputation in our industry and this transaction fits perfectly with our ambition to grow further, both organically and via targeted M&A.”

John Hamer, Corporate Partner at Walker Morris added:

“We are pleased to have been able to assist Walkers Transport on this latest transaction, having previously worked with them on the MBO in 2017 funded by Total Capital Partners. The acquisition of MTH represents a great fit for both companies and will greatly assist in accelerating their future expansions plans.”
