Walker Morris shortlisted for two awards at the Yorkshire Legal awardsPrint news article
Walker Morris is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted for both the ‘Law Firm of the Year Award’ and the ‘Regulatory & Compliance Team of the Year Award’ at the 2018 Yorkshire Legal Awards.
The Yorkshire Legal Awards have honoured excellence within the region’s legal profession for the past 18 years and this year’s winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 11 October at New Dock Hall, Leeds.
The shortlisting for ‘Firm of the Year’ recognises Walker Morris’ ongoing strategy of investment in a number of strategic, business development and HR initiatives which have contributed to its continued development as an independent, high quality and forward-thinking practice. Following the appointment of new Managing Partner, Malcolm Simpson, the Firm announced its plans to relocate to 33 Wellington, Leeds and acquired 76,000 sq ft of reconfigured and renovated Grade A office space – a move that will be the largest professional services relocation in the city for almost 15 years.
Walker Morris continues to be ranked as a ‘Top Tier Law Firm’ by both Chambers and Legal 500 and is recognised for its multi-disciplinary expertise with 28 practice areas ranked by either directory. In addition, 91% of the Firm’s partners are recommended in either directory, placing it in the top 3 of the UK’s top 100 UK law firms for percentage of partners recommended.
The shortlisting for the Regulatory & Compliance Team at Walker Morris comes on the back of significant recent investment in specialist expertise with the appointment of Stuart Ponting at the end of 2017. The Team now has three partners dedicated to this specialist field, supported by a further 11 fee earners, making the Team one of the largest Regulatory Teams outside London, able to offer clients extensive experience in the complete range of Regulatory services on a national basis.
