Walker Morris scoops Large Law Firm of the Year and Regulatory Team of the Year at awards

Judges recognise Walker Morris at Yorkshire Legal Awards

Walker Morris was one of the biggest winners at the Yorkshire Legal awards last night – scooping both the Large ‘Law Firm of the Year’ award and the ‘Regulatory & Compliance’ award.

The Awards, which bring together and celebrate the outstanding legal talent across the region, were attended by over 900 legal professionals at New Dock Hall in Leeds.

The judges, which comprised experts from across the industry, recognised the Walker Morris Regulatory Team as one of the leading and largest specialist teams outside London, advising on some of the UK’s most significant investigations. The Team is one of the few dedicated Regulatory Teams nationally to offer extensive experience in the complete range of regulatory services including: fraud, financial services, data protection, money laundering, advertising standards, environmental investigations, trading standards, health and safety and tax investigations.

The Judges also recognised the great strides Walker Morris has taken over the last 12 months, investing in numerous strategic, IT, business development and HR initiatives, which have contributed to the firm’s continued development as an independent, high quality, forward-thinking practice.

Commenting on the award Walker Morris Managing Partner, Malcolm Simpson, said:

“We are delighted to have been recognised by our peers to win two Yorkshire Legal Awards. The awards are testament to a lot of hard work and continued focussed effort in continuing to innovate and deliver an outstanding client service.  I’d like to congratulate our Regulatory & Compliance Team and everyone across the firm in helping make Walker Morris the truly quality-led and forward thinking firm it is.”

Described as providing “London big-firm skill levels at up-country prices” (Chambers) Walker Morris ended a successful financial year with a 5.5% increase in revenue. Over the last 12 months the firm has made a number of major investments including announcing a move to new HQ – the largest professional services relocation in Leeds for 15 years, appointing a new Managing Partner and launching of £multi-million new practice management system.
