Law Firm invites Yorkshire’s young artists to take part in this year’s special anniversary competition

Walker Morris has launched the special 25th anniversary of its annual Children’s Charity Calendar Competition.

The Competition is open to all primary school age children from the Yorkshire and Humber regions. To enter, budding artists simply choose their favourite month of the year and paint a picture that represents that month. The chosen 13 winners, one for each month plus the coveted front page winner, will receive a hamper full of artist’s materials along with a cheque for £250 for their schools. The runners-up will also receive a prize each.

The winning pictures will be judged by renowned Yorkshire artist, Ashley Jackson, David Smedley, Chairman of the Partners at Walker Morris and Dean Poole from Reflex Label Plus.

The winning pictures will be used to create a calendar which is sold in aid of Martin House Hospice. Martin House provides family-led care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and supports families across Yorkshire both at the hospice and in the community.

Ashley Jackson, commented:

“It fills me with great pride to be able to launch the 25th Walker Morris Children’s Charity Calendar Competition for it provides a great focus, allowing children to shine equally through their art, rewarding solely on talent, skill and passion. I look forward to the yearly occasion of viewing the creative artwork and knowing that the competition is in some way inspiring the next generation of artists”.

David Smedley, added:

“We are delighted to be launching our 25th anniversary Walker Morris Children’s Charity Calendar Competition. It really is a fantastic achievement to reach this special 25 year milestone. The longevity of the Calendar Competition is really down to the fantastic efforts of the children and the quality of the artwork they create. To do this the children are well supported by their teachers and the schools and we would like to thank them for their continued enthusiasm and support throughout the 25 year history of the calendar competition.

“We look forward to celebrating the 25th Calendar this year at our new office on Wellington Street, and have some very exciting events planned!”

To enter, please send the painting with a completed entry form firmly attached to: Walker Morris, Kings Court, 12 King Street, Leeds, LS1 2HL before the closing date on Friday 19 July 2019.
