Walker Morris hits £90m with record revenue and double-digit growth

Leading independent commercial law firm Walker Morris remains on track to deliver its Ambition 27 £100m+ revenue target after another year of double-digit growth.

In the year ending 30 April 2026, the firm has delivered fees of just over £90m, representing 11% growth on the previous year and marking the first time Walker Morris has exceeded the £90m milestone.

Walker Morris has continued to focus on key sectors and client service, alongside targeted investment in people and technology, building on the success of the last five years, which have seen revenue grow by 65%.

The results also reflect Jeanette Burgess’ second year as Managing Partner, a period during which the firm has further strengthened its position in the UK and internationally while delivering sustained growth.

Key indicators at the end of the 2025/26 financial year include:

Business performance

  • Total fee revenue of £90.2m – the highest on record and a major milestone for the firm.
  • 11% increase on FY 2024/25 (£81m).
  • 65% fee growth since 2020/21.
  • Net profit increase of 11%, delivering firm’s the strongest ever annual net profit margin of 46%, whilst continuing to invest in people and our platform.
  • PEP over £1.1m.
  • Annual fees bolstered by international work in 70+ countries in the last 12 months.
  • Leading service lines which saw strong double-digit growth include Commercial Corporate, Infrastructure & Energy, and Real Estate, alongside new market share in growing sectors such as Defence.
  • External recognition including Management Partner of the Year (Legal 500 Northern Powerhouse Awards 2026) and Best Law Firm (Car Finance Awards 2026).
  • On track to achieving Net Zero by 2040.

Investment in people and technology

  • 26 internal promotions spanning all key practice areas including three new partners Lorna Hopps (Employment), Alex Jones (Construction & Engineering) and Josh Kitson (Planning & Environment).
  • Three new external director appointments in priority markets: Daniel Fowler (Pensions), Sophie Linnell (Infrastructure & Energy) and David Wood (Planning & Environment).
  • Increased headcount by 7% in the last 12 months to 530+ people.
  • Staff turnover the lowest in six years.
  • Increased overall staff engagement to 88%.
  • Embedding responsible AI across the firm, with almost two thirds (64%) of staff actively engaging in its use to deliver more efficient services and unlock new value for clients.

Client mandates

The firm has won, retained and grown many significant clients over the last year, strengthened its market leading practice areas, and enhanced its profile in priority sectors. Client assignments include:

  • Endless: Sale of Hovis to Associated British Foods (subject to CMA review)
  • ENGIE: Supreme Court case in respect of business energy commission claims
  • High Street Retailer: New loyalty card programme
  • International Contractor: USD $440 million road construction dispute in the Middle East
  • Mersey Tidal Power Project: DCO application for a landmark tidal energy scheme in the North West
  • National Grid: supporting on projects as part of its £35bn infrastructure investment programme
  • Overseas investor & JV partner, REEF Group: Site acquisition for 600ksq ft central London life sciences park
  • Port of Tilbury: advised on new developments at the port including a green hydrogen project
  • Premier League Football Club: Head coach, coaching staff and C-suite appointments and exits, disputes and club-to-club releases
  • Unite: construction of a £250m student accommodation development as part of its joint venture with the University of Newcastle
