Director
Planning & Environment
David has over 15 years’ experience advising clients on high-profile development proposals, including big-ticket urban regeneration schemes, commercial and residential development and major energy and infrastructure work.
David specialises in major urban development and regeneration schemes and has acted on a number of strategic applications across the country. His work includes advising on planning application strategy, legal audits of applications, CIL advice and negotiating major planning agreements. David is adept at contentious work and is experienced in major appeal and call-in inquiries, and in the courts.
His expertise lies in energy and infrastructure work for promoters of nationally significant infrastructure projects and parties affected by them. He advises on projects from start to finish; drafting development consent orders, appearing at examination hearings, and advising on the implementation of the consent and associated powers of compulsory acquisition.
Recognised as “up and coming” in Chambers & Partners and a “rising star” and “leading associate” in Legal 500, David has a strong reputation for his technical ability, commercial acumen and collaborative approach to driving forward complex projects. His strengths are his impressive judgement, ability to take a good strategic overview and commercial approach.
David recognises the importance of getting to grips straightaway with his clients’ commercial objectives so that he can advise strategically and pragmatically to cover off issues before they arise.
