Associate
Infrastructure and Energy
James is an Associate in the Infrastructure and Energy (I&E) team. He specialises in the commercial and contractual aspects of I&E projects and typically advises on agreements for supply, services, grant funding, non-disclosure and grid connection.
Working with clients across the energy and infrastructure sectors, including renewable energy companies, investors, developers, local authorities, and governmental bodies, James considers not only his clients’ immediate needs but also the long-term implications of their contractual arrangements.
James draws upon the insights from multiple legal disciplines from his training (covering Corporate, Real Estate, Construction, and Commercial Dispute Resolution). This background enables him to view I&E projects through a wider commercial lens, considering the legal aspects of contracts and the strategic, operational, and long-term business impacts. This holistic perspective allows James to deliver technically sound advice that is commercially aligned with his clients’ broader goals.
Having previously worked as a Head of Geography teacher in London and the Middle East, James finds the sustainability aspects of his work most rewarding. He is also a regular participant in Walker Morris’ mentoring and insight programmes for local schools, where he uses his previous experience in the classroom to support the pupils he works with.
