Real Estate Insolvency
The Real Estate Insolvency Group is one of the largest dedicated units outside London. As well as providing a support function for Banking, Restructuring & Finance, the Group undertakes its own, independent workload comprising a mixture of high value, corporate insolvencies and high volume, lower value fixed charge/Law of Property Act receivership work. The latter is often undertaken on a semi commoditised basis to provide a high quality service that is cost effective ensuring greater net realisations for funds and receivers alike. There are also dedicated units dealing with receivership auction sales and recoveries, again on a commoditised, fixed cost basis.
The Group is best known for its work in the corporate insolvency sector and has particular expertise in retail and sports insolvency. Highlights include acting on the administrations of Leeds United FC, Portsmouth Town FC, Plymouth Argyle, Stockport County and numerous other professional football clubs as well as acting for the buyer of Crystal Palace FC from administrators. The track record in the retail sector is equally impressive with the team having been involved in the sale or purchase of over 2000 retail units for or from insolvency practitioners.
