Effective environmental advice and representation requires expert knowledge and understanding. The Environment Team comprises a team of specialist lawyers experienced in all aspects of environmental law. The Team constantly monitors the law as it develops, both at European and national level, allowing us to anticipate the future needs of our clients and advise clients how best to adapt their business to comply with new legislation. The Team’s understanding and experience of a wide range of environmental issues, coupled with specialist support in the more technical areas, ensures the breadth and quality of expertise that today’s clients require.
We offer specialist support across all aspects of environmental law, both contentious and non-contentious and have considerable experience in advising a wide range of clients from major developers, minerals, waste, energy and chemical businesses, other industrialists, landowners, statutory undertakers and planning authorities, involved in a wide variety of sectors. This includes substantial experience in regulatory matters, from the submission of applications to the relevant authorities for authorisations, licences and consents needed in respect of emissions, discharges and waste management to negotiating with the relevant enforcement authority where a breach of consent is alleged. We also advise and represent clients in the courts in the event of criminal prosecution.
We believe in getting involved from the earliest stages of negotiations for the purchase of land to the submission of planning applications, including giving advice in respect of potential liabilities arising from contaminated land and reviewing and reporting on environmental reports.
