New HCA housing funding schemes

HCA has recently issued prospectuses for new funds to deliver housing:

The Builders Finance Fund offers £525m of capital finance to unlock housing developments between 15-250 units that have slowed or stalled but with funding can be unlocked quickly. Investments will be available in 2015/16 and 2016/17. Bidding formally opens on 14 May 2014 and closes on 25 June 2014. The Local Growth Fund (Housing Initiative) will provide £50m funding in 2015/16 to unlock housing developments ranging from 250-1499 units, providing support to sites which are championed by LEPs and which can be unlocked or accelerated through the early provision of infrastructure. Bidding opened on 23 April and will close on 30 May 2014. See:

Bidding for the Large Sites Infrastructure Programme opened on 14 April 2014 and will close at 30 May 2014. The Programme will provide a package of support to bring forward large-scale housing development including:

  • access to £1bn Large Sites Infrastructure Fund to enable delivery of major infrastructure (available over 2015/16 – 2019/20)
  • a Local Capacity Fund to enhance local authority skills and capacity needed to progress schemes through the planning and consent process (available 2014/15 – 2015/16)
  • access to planning and technical advice from HCA’s Advisory Team for Large Applications (ATLAS)
  • brokerage support to help resolve barriers that are preventing schemes moving forward. See:
