It is a busy time at Walker Morris at the moment as we prepare to move premises and continue our growth. The team has increased substantially of late and we will continue to expand in 2019. March also saw the launch of our WM Compliance Framework 2.0 and we have some really exciting tech projects in the pipeline that will overhaul the customer journey.
Leeds Arts University students win innovative competition to design Walker Morris client meeting rooms
There’s a real buzz around the Walker Morris office as we prepare to move to our new premises on Wellington Street this summer. In addition to our new building winning the ‘Editor’s Deal of the Year’ award at the CoStar real estate awards last month, we have also just announced the 12 winning Leeds Arts University students who will see their designs brought to life in our new building.
As part of our long-standing and continued investment in the arts, we launched an innovative competition, in partnership with Leeds Arts University, to commission 13 pieces of artwork for our new client meeting rooms. We were thrilled with the entries and you can read more about the competition here.

Walker Morris launches the 25th anniversary Children’s Charity Calendar Competition
Continuing the art theme, we have just launched the special 25th anniversary of our annual Children’s Charity Calendar Competition. The Competition is open to all primary school age children from the Yorkshire and Humber regions. To enter, budding artists simply choose their favourite month of the year and paint a picture that represents that month. The winning pictures will be used to create a calendar which is sold in aid of Martin House Hospice. Read more about our Calendar Competition here.
Working with Ahead Partnership
In January Sian Squires from our Collections & Recoveries Team and four other Walker Morris colleagues helped students at Grange Technology College in Bradford with an Interview Practice Event. This event offered the opportunity for Year 11 students at the school to gain an insight into the job interview process and receive feedback from the Walker Morris Team, as well as contacts from other local businesses.
Celebrating Best Companies accreditation
We are celebrating our Best Companies accreditation which recognises us as having “very good” levels of employee engagement. It is the fourth year we have participated in the employee engagement survey and we have improved our score every year.
We are one of only seven law firms to achieve a one star accreditation and we are ranked as one of the top 75 companies in Yorkshire.
Best Companies is the UK’s biggest employee engagement survey provider and is most widely known for researching the Sunday Times ‘best companies to work for‘ lists.
The accreditation comes on the back of a string of recent accolades for Walker Morris, including our ranking as a top ten law firm in the UK for the second consecutive year in the RollonFriday annual ‘Firm of the Year’ survey. Notably we were voted 2nd for career development and 2nd for pay. We were also nominated for four awards in the Legal Cheek 2019 Awards and were recognised in the Top 100 Undergraduate Employers Table as one of the best employers for graduates in the whole of the UK across all industries.
