Changes to ‘spent convictions’ regimePrint publication
On 10 March 2014, some rehabilitation periods for convictions were reduced. The time frame in respect of which job applicants are required to declare previous convictions to employers is now shorter for a number of specified types of offence. The rules relating to enhanced disclosure or for those working with vulnerable people have not been changed and convictions for specified sexual or violent offences will still never become ‘spent’.
