Consultation on zero hours contracts launched

Print publication

Zero-hours contracts have been high on the Government’s agenda for several months. It has now launched a consultation on zero-hours contracts focusing on what it sees as the two key concerns posed by such contracts – exclusivity clauses and a lack of transparency. The consultation seeks views on legislating to ban exclusivity clauses and proposes creating government guidance or an employer code of practice on the use of exclusivity clauses and zero-hours contracts generally. The consultation closes on 13 March 2014.
