Simon has 19 years of experience advising on UK tax issues relating to corporate acquisitions and disposals, business purchases and disposals, joint ventures, establishing and restructuring of corporate groups, real estate acquisitions, purchases and restructurings, as well as financing arrangements with third party funders and intra-group funding. Much of his experience involves cross-border elements and multi-national groups.
He has worked for national and international law firms, including DLA Piper, Mayer Brown and Gateley for a range of UK and overseas clients, including listed companies, large corporate groups, SMEs, private equity funds and individuals in a range of sectors and has a large amount of experience advising property developers and property investors.
Simon has advised large UK and overseas investors on the structuring and acquisition of distressed property portfolios (up to 150 properties) and also on the establishment of UK and European real estate holding structures. Of particular note, he advised British Land on its mixed-use development at Clarges in Mayfair and the sale of its interest in the “Cheesegrater” building.
