Construction & Engineering
Samantha is a Senior Associate in our Construction & Engineering Team. She advises on all areas of contentious construction and building disputes. Samantha also has experience in professional negligence cases, including solicitors’ negligence cases arising from conveyancing and other property transactions. She often works on claims involving a large number of claimants, frequently with a litigation funding element. Samantha says, “I have an extensive knowledge of costs, funding and procedural issues, which is crucial to the strategic conduct of a case”.
Most of the claims Samantha is currently working on relate to issues connected with cladding or a lack of fire protection in multi-occupancy high rise developments and she typically works for large groups of claimants (usually leaseholders) who are pursuing the same defendants.
When asked what she finds most rewarding about her role, Samantha says, “working for individuals who, without our help, would be left with no recourse for a wrongdoing that was completely out of their control. I’ve always wanted to work in a team environment that pursued claims for people that deserve to be pursued”.
Samantha describes her approach to client work as hands-on and proactive and she always seeks practical solutions to the issues clients face. In practice, this means strong project management skills to handle the logistics of large claims as well as strong teamwork. Dealing with large groups of claimants can be challenging, but, Samantha says, “I make sure that work is carried out methodically to ensure nothing is missed”.
Calm, hardworking and conscientious, Samantha always strives to get the best results for her clients – and she notes that this is very much in line with the ethos at Walker Morris.
