FC Business has announced that law firm Walker Morris has been shortlisted for the “Best Professional Service Business Serving Football Award” in its 2013 Football Business Awards.

Now in their second year, the Football Business Awards celebrate excellence, recognise the positive impact of football on the community and acknowledge the vital role played by the businesses which serve the game.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held at Chelsea Football Club on 7th November.  Comedienne Jo Brand will host the event, which will see 12 out of 20 Premier League clubs competing for an award.

The Walker Morris Sports Group was also a finalist in last year’s inaugural awards.

David Hinchliffe, Head of the Sports Group at Walker Morris said:

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the second year running for this prestigious award which recognises our contribution to the industry.  We’ve had a busy few years, having acted on the sale and purchase of a number of football clubs.  We are now also considered to be leaders in the restructuring and administration of sports clubs, having acted on the vast majority of football club insolvencies and administrations in the UK, including Portsmouth FC – the only Premier League football club to go into administration.

“This year has also seen us reinforce the strength in depth of the Group with the appointment Katie Medd as a Solicitor.

“Our sports lawyers are all avid sports fans and so we understand the passion felt by the fans and we are committed to helping the Clubs and the industry as much as we can.”

Walker Morris was ranked as a Top Tier firm for sports law in the 2013 Legal 500 UK Guide published this week.
