Law firm sponsors regulatory lawyer in international competition
Walker Morris regulatory lawyer, Hayley Lawrence, earned 5th place for Great Britain in her age group at the ETU Long Distance Duathlon Championships, which took place on 8 May 2016 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Copenhagen Championships is one of the biggest events on the duathlon athletic calendar and Hayley was competing in a very competitive field. The long distance duathlon in which Hayley participated comprised a 10km run, a 60km bike ride followed by another 10km run.
Jeanette Burgess, Head of Regulatory at Walker Morris said:
“We are delighted for Hayley. Finishing 5th at this event is a tremendous achievement and we are very proud of her. It is testament to Hayley’s determination and dedication which are vital in such long distance events – qualities that we see both in her athletic achievements and in her professional career as a lawyer and member of the team. It is important to celebrate success in all areas of our lives whether that is delivering success for a client or crossing the finishing line of a major race.”
Hayley had to fit in an extensive training regime around her role as a full-time regulatory lawyer. In preparation for the event Hayley was training 12 – 13 hours per week for three weeks with an active recovery week where she trains for 7 hours. Training typically included 2 hours of swimming (ready for the triathlon season), 2.5 hours of running, 6.5 hours of cycling and two hours of strength training and pilates. During the week this often involved getting up at 5:45am to train before work and often includes training twice a day.
Walker Morris’ sponsorship of Hayley is part of a wider programme of support offered by Walker Morris to its employees.
