Commercial Dispute Resolution Senior Associate

Walker Morris commercial disputes resolution team is seeking to appoint a senior associate to work as part of the team under supervision from partners on a caseload of complex commercial disputes.

The successful candidate will be 5yrs PQE to 8 yrs PQE but we will consider movement either way for the right candidate with general commercial litigation expertise and ideally arbitration experience and good academics.

We would like the candidate to have had experience working in a City Firm, an international firm or a top tier regional firm. This is an interesting opportunity for candidates looking to relocate to Yorkshire, who are ambitious for partnership in a leading commercial firm based outside of London and seek the lifestyle available to them living in Yorkshire.

The role will involve working hybrid from home and at our head office in Leeds.

Skills and Experience:

  • Be a fully qualified solicitor who is registered with the Law Society of England and Wales.
  • Have successfully completed a training contract and the Professional Skills Course.
  • Have previous high quality technical experience relevant to the level of post qualification experience (PQE) with the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Proven track record of ensuring the provision of a high standard of client service, to include good file and case management and the ability to meet client expectations and standards in demanding commercial litigation.
  • The ability to demonstrate sound commercial awareness and understanding of clients’ businesses.
  • Ability to undertake business development activities to the appropriate level (based on PQE), and to have the relevant skills, experience and desire to develop in this area in the future.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to communicate professionally and effectively at all times, and to build relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Be a supportive, dependable and approachable member of the team who can work with people at all levels in the firm and contribute to the effectiveness of the team and Firm as a whole.
  • A dynamic, ambitious and enthusiastic individual who is proactive and constantly striving to improve and develop themselves, their team/ department and the Firm.
