Research legal profession, get a feel for the law firms, make a short-list of those you would like to apply to.
Attend career and law fairs, have questions prepared, talk to firms you have an interest in.

October onwards
Hopefully you will have a handful of firms on your hit list. Now is the time to be applying for vacation placement schemes, remember to take time with your application and tailor it to the firm. Our deadline for vacation placement schemes is 31 December.
February – March
You will hear from our graduate team with the outcome of your initial application for our vacation placement.
If your application is successful you will be invited to the next stage of the recruitment process which will be an assessment centre.
April – June
Our vacation placement scheme dates are held in April and June.
31st July
Our deadline for submitting training contract applications (some firms deadlines may vary so make sure you have a note of them).
August – September
You will hear from our graduate team with the outcome of your initial application for our training contract.
If your application is successful you will be invited to attend an interview and an assessment centre.

September – June
LAW DEGREE
If you have completed your degree you will then need to study the Legal Practice Course (LPC). There are a wide range of universities and law schools that offer this course.
NON LAW DEGREE
If your degree is not in Law you will need to study the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). On completion of this you will then need to study the Legal Practice Course (LPC). There are a wide range of universities and law schools that offer these courses.

Year One: September to August
September
You will start your training contract with us, your first week will consist of induction training from various departments.
October-November
This is the law fair season, you’ll be asked to help out the graduate team attending law fairs to speak to students and share your experiences so far.
October-March
You will attend your core Professional Skills Courses (PSC) during this time.
January
You will move in to your 2nd seat.
May
You will move in to your 3rd seat.

Year Two: September – August
You will move in to your 4th seat. The seat moves in your 2nd year are different as you let us have your preferences of the departments you’d like to go in to. Wherever possible the graduate team will get you in to your preferred department so you can begin to carve out your career path.
January
You will move in to your 5th seat.
You will attend the electives part of the Professional Skills Course (PSC). We hold a tailored course in-house which consists of 4 days training. You will cover presentation and communication skills and also a business simulation workshop.
March/April
Our newly qualified (NQ) jobs list is published internally. You will need to decide where you would like to apply and submit your application to the relevant partners/departments.
May
You will move in to your final seat. Normally by this time you will know where you are qualifying we aim to have all our NQ jobs sorted by May.

September
You will qualify in to your chosen area of law. The graduate team like to keep in touch with NQ’s to track progress and help them in anyway we can. During the first year of qualification you will enroll on to our NQ development programme which will equip you with all the skills you need to start your qualified career. Our Learning and Development team will meet with you yearly to hold your career conversation aiding you to make your mark within the firm and progress. We also have an NQ committee and meet quarterly with them.
