HOW ARE CHANGES TO LICENSING LEGISLATION GOING TO AFFECT YOU?
Major changes to licensing legislation and new regulations to cover lap dancing premises will move the Licensing Act away from being the permissive legislation we currently have. These changes will give Police and Local Authorities more power and could make it impossible to have new licenses / longer opening hours granted in certain areas. We could also see the introduction of a late night levy for licensed premises.
You are invited to join us for a free seminar which will focus on how the changes to licensing legislation will have an operational effect and impact into property law issues. We will flag areas of possible concern and share suggestions as to how effective lease arrangements can help landlords and tenants in the sector to best absorb the impact of the new regime.
The seminar will cover:
- Changes to Lap Dancing Legislation - What is the practical effect?
- Consequences for Commercial Landlords and Tenants.
- Disposing of Leasehold Interests.
- Changes to the definition of Cummulative Impact and licensing. hours - What the proposed changes to the licensing legislation will mean to the leisure sector.

Construction Industry Scheme
Folowing the success of the above, the Tex team has also created a software package relating to the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS). The CIS aims to prevent sub-contractors who work in the construction industry from evading tax. In broad terms, the scheme requires contractors to make deductions from sub-contractors and account for this to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
If your business is involved in the construction industry, this package will help you first work out whether you are within the scheme and then guide you through the requirements relating to registering under the scheme.
